This herbal tea has been known since ancient times. It loves calcareous soils and can also be found on the gorges´slopes. It is a flavorful tea and is similar to oregano, a must have for every Crete-visitor. The essential oils are in the glandular scales on the surface of the leaves. If you injure these glands when rubbed, the essential oils are released. Dictamus has been classified by the HMPC(Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products) as a traditional herbal medicinal product (Section 39a AMG).
